America, Land of Hypocrisy

So, Europeans came to this great land, deciding that they had discovered something new and shiney to call their very own. Nevermind that there was a whole civilization already here. But, then again. Europeans were never known for their common sense.

Common sense tells me, that if I walk into a house and someone already lives there, then DUH, it's not my house. Pretty simple.

But anyway. They came, they slaughtered, they conquored. Especially since they came in pretending to be friends, and as soon as they had backup and loads of weapons, they started slaughtering everyone they could so that they could build their towns and cities on the graves of the people they destroyed.

People say that all of that is in the past, and Native Indians should just let it go and move on. But thing is, this shit is NOT in the past. There have been forced Sterilzation programs oporating with government permission as early as the late 70's, early 80's. How the heck is that in the past?

What about the destruction to families brought on by the Indian Boarding Schools? Everytime there is some tragic occurrance in a school, you hear about all of the social workers and counselors being shipped in to help the children cope with the trauma. Don't you think those children who were traumatised by being kidnapped by government officials and shoved in the warehouse schools, some to be raped, tortured, beaten, starved or killed, Don't you think THOSE children would have needed a whole lot of therapy to be able to function as adults once they were free?

But, nope, they tortured children from the age of 5 to adulthood, and then blamed those same children for turning into drug addicts, alcoholics, violent criminals, domestic abusers, suicides, and clinically depressed. Wow.... that is like blaming the incest victim for being afraid of sex. Or, how about blaming the rape victim for being raped?

Those same children are now someone's Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Husband, Wife, Grandparent, Aunt, Uncle... and they are trying as best they know how to raise their own children, but what model do they have? The violence and fear that they were subjected as children, which is now passed down.... generation... after generation... after generation.

Thank you so much America for being so compassionate and the Champion of Human Rights in the World. It is just too bad that you do not practice what you preach maybe?
